Disdain for rich unifies Occupy Frederick protesters
Again, we believe it’s important to shout out to the local move on chapter that did 100% of the leg work for this demonstration.
Like protesters across the country, more than two dozen residents who turned out Thursday in downtownFrederick showed solidarity with the 2-month-old Occupy Wall Street movement.
Fed up with what they described as a floundering American dream manifested by unbounded corporate greed, an under-regulated, over-compensated American financial industry, rampant militarism and political corruption, the protesters sang spirituals and held up placards to express dismay with the status quo.
Drivers occasionally honked their horns as they passed the group assembled at Market and Patrick streets.
“I was outraged before Occupy started, and I think we need to do something,” said Andrea Hickman, a Frederick resident who brought her two young children to the rally in a stroller.
