Come celebrate a year of Occupy in Frederick! On the anniversary of Occupy Frederick’s very first action we’re getting together with our friends and comrades to reflect on the ups and downs of the year’s activity, and to discuss the future of radical/progressive organizing in the community.

After the discussion we’ll switch to party mode with a potluck, music, and drinks for those of us of age.

All are welcome; organizers, allies, participants, supporters, and anyone interested in movements for social change/curious about organizing for social justice in Frederick are encouraged to attend (the more the merrier!).

Legal counseling for those in foreclosure; learn about squatting; the story of Umoja Village and the Take Back the Land Movement; a discussion around homeless issues led by people from the homeless community with local aid organizations.

The Foreclosure Defense Work Shop, initially planned for tomorrow at the Hill Cress Community Center is now at the Friends Meeting House–located at 723 N. Market Street. Thank you for the helping making this event happen. Sorry, for the last minute confusion and stress.

Two ways of getting from Hillcrest to Friends House by mass transit

1) Walk to W. Patrick St/Rt 40

Turn right, walk east 1 mi to the corner of Norva Ave; find:

TransIT bus stop, Connector 30 at W. Patrick St/Norva Ave

Schedule: 9:10, 10:10, 11:20, 12:20, 1:20, 2:25, 3:20, 4:20, 5:25, 6:35

2) Walk to the corner of Hillcrest Dr and W. Patrick St/Rt 40

Find:

TransIT bus stop, Connector 40 at W. Patrick St/Hillcrest Dr

Schedule: 9:02, 10:05, 11:19, 12:19, 1:19, 2:19, 3:19, 4:19, 5:19, 6:34

Transfer to Connector 30 at MARC Station

Get off Connector 30 at 7^th St/Motter Ave

Walk back/east to Market St

Turn left

Friends House is on your left: 723 N. Market St, Frederick, MD 21701

Fee: $1.10 adult, $0.55 seniors 60+ and disabled, Transfer: FREE, small child: FREE

On second night of Occupy Frederick, the General Assembly decided to call for a Rally to be held. On the one week of our Occupation, please come down, bring signs to the occupation site. All Power to the 99%, All Power to Working People. In honer of Jarrel Gray we have renamed the occupied space, “Jarrel Gray Park.”

Please meet up at Saturday January 28th, 1pm at Carol Creek (Jarrel Gray Park) and Market Street to “Rally for Power to the 99%”
